Certified Internship and Independent Study Programs (MSIB)
Certified Internship and Independent Study Programs (MSIB) provide students with opportunities to intern or undergo skill-based courses at world-class organizations. This program is managed centrally by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (MoECRT). With MSIB, they could spend one semester with reputable partner institutions.
The student requirement is to be in the 4th semester (for the vocational program) or the 5th semester (for the undergraduate program) at the time of the MSIB program application. The students have the last 20 credits/academic units.
A certified Internship is a program where the students are embedded into partner organizations as training participants and allows them to be involved in real projects and create an impact on the industry. The general requirements for the partners are to have a structured learning plan (structured project, clear problem statement and expected outcomes, and students work in multidisciplinary teams); dedicated and full-time mentors (coached by trained mentors (regular feedback sessions, end-of-project evaluation, etc.), and a Minimum of 1 mentor for every ten students); and synchronized with academic cycles (full-semester duration (>16 weeks) and professional certificate issued by an organization for credit conversion).
The benefit of becoming a partner is to have financial support and non-financial support. The form of financial support is the student stipend of up to IDR 2.8 million per student, mentor salary subsidies of up to IDR 15 million per mentor, and fully subsidized travel costs for students. The form of non-financial support is Internship job posts on the Kampus Merdeka website with 500.000+ active users and 250.000+ applicants per semester.
An Independent Study Program is a non-title learning program prepared and conducted by a partner organization in the form of a short course, boot camp, massive open online course (MOOC), and other means that a case study concluded. The general requirements for the partners are to offer structured learning paths (skill development plan (defined levels and outcomes) for high-demand skills and Synchronous or hybrid learning (can't be entirely asynchronous)); dedicated and full-time mentors (Coached by trained mentors (regular feedback sessions, end-of-project evaluation, etc.) and a minimum of 1 mentor for every 25 students); and synchronized with academic cycles (full-semester duration (>16 weeks) and professional certificate issued by an organization for credit conversion).
